Karben Guard ® Stainless Steel Ember Guard Mesh – With an aperture of 1.84mm, this product can be used for a wide range of applications where fine screening is required. The 300mm diameter cylindrical discs are manufactured using 0.7mm stainless steel wire, providing the right mix of strength and rigidity. This product can be customised if needed, by cutting or folding to suit multiple purposes.
AS 3959-2018 (construction of buildings in bushfire prone areas), defines an Ember Guard as a cover inserted or over an opening or cavity to prevent the entry of burning embers. Additionally, Clause 3.6 states that the maximum allowable aperture size of any mesh or perforated material used as a screen shall be 2mm. AS3959-2018 also specifically lists corrosion-resistant steel as suitable material to be used at all bushfire attack levels, BAL-12.5, BAL-19, BAL-29, BAL-40 & BAL FZ
